The origins of ritual Christian queenship in early medieval England (750-1000)
This month I was asked by a colleague if I could produce a short 20 minute lecture for their students at the University of Idaho on the topic of my doctoral thesis.
I’m entering the final stages of writing my thesis now, and the lecture I produced is a general walkthrough of what I research and some of its wider implications. It’s entitled The Origins of Christian Ritual Queenship in Early Medieval England.
I thought I would share this lecture with my paid subscribers, to show you what I research academically when I’m not writing biographies for Ælfgif-who?. That said, you may recognise a few familiar names such as Judith, Eadburh and Æthelflaed!
Don’t worry, all the very technical, painstaking, mindnumbing textual stuff has been left out - sorry if you’re into that, but you’ll have to wait for the finished thesis.
